 Jon Meacham’s book is an historical narrative of the “establishment” and “free exercise” clauses of the first amendment in American history.  Meacham articulates the unique success of our American experience: framing a secular constitution for a religious nation, Christian, Deist, Jewish and including atheism and unintentionally anticipating immigrants of other faiths.
